About BOAT the BLUE, The 2018 ACBS International Boat Show and Pre-Events
The Michigan Chapter of ACBS is proud to have been chosen as host for the 2018 ACBS International Boat Show and Pre-Events. The week-long classic boating event will be based in Port Huron, Michigan on September 9-15, 2018.
Port Huron is located about an hour northeast of Detroit. It lies at the southern end of Lake Huron and is the easternmost point on land in Michigan. Stretching for seven miles along the shore of the St. Clair River and Lake Huron, Port Huron is an international border crossing between the United States and Canada marked by the spectacular Blue Water Bridge. The city features a historic downtown area, boardwalk, marina, museum, lighthouse, and the McMorran Place arena and entertainment complex. Visitors will enjoy boutique shopping and unique dining experiences in addition to the activities related to the boat show.

Poker Run: Algonac to The Old Club
Open up those engines for a Poker Run on the turquoise waters of the St.Clair Flats waterway, where Christopher Smith and Gar Wood designed and developed their boats, tested their engines and raced for Gold Cup glory. Launch in Algonac and run the scenic channels to lunch at The Old Club, a historic private club at the southernmost tip of Harsen’s Island on the South Channel of the St. Clair River. The best poker hands will win prizes made in Michigan to remind you of your boating experience “Where it All Began”!

St. Clair River Lunch Run
Launch from the River Street Marina in Port Huron and cruise down the St. Clair River to protected dockage at the municipal marina. Enjoy lunch and a guest speaker at a river front restaurant as you watch the freighters and pleasure craft making way on the river. After lunch, additional cruising of the area waterways or a direct run back to Port Huron will be an option for each captain.

Register for the opportunity to enjoy being a guest on a large classic cruiser for a “big water” run from the Port Huron River Street Marina up into Lake Huron to the delightful lakefront town of Lexington. There, you will enjoy the downtown attractions and a catered lunch at the marina. The cruiser captains will depart Lexington in time for their guests to return to Port Huron in plenty of time for the reception later that day at the Port Huron Lighthouse.
ACBS Fort Gratiot Light Station Reception Dinner
Enjoy an evening reception at the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in Port Huron. The lighthouse is located at the base of Lake Huron where the water flows into the St. Clair River on its way south to Lake St. Clair. It is the oldest surviving lighthouse in Michigan and guests are invited to climb to the top for the best views of the international bridges and freighter traffic. You will enjoy great entertainment while watching the busy waterway as majestic freighters and local pleasure craft pass by.

ACBS Annual Meeting
All members are welcome to participate in the Chapter Roundtable and Annual Meeting which will begin at 8:00 A.M. at the Host Hotel, The DoubleTree by Hilton in Port Huron.
Historic Land Tour
Tours of historic Algonac landmarks will also be available during the day. Participants will enjoy a half day motor coach trip that will depart in the morning from the Double Tree hotel in Port Huron and tour the historic St. Clair River down to a lunch at the Harbour Club Marina, which is the site of the original Chris Craft plant in Algonac. The trip will include several stops at historic sites and museums that will provide an education about the vast maritime and classic boat history of this area.

Ladies Day Out
Participants will be transported by a trolley enjoy a tour of Studio 1219 and the Carnegie Center Museum. Studio 1219 is a local art studio featuring six art galleries full of local handmade art. This fabulous day will continue with a luncheon and fashion show by Suzanne’s Boutique at the Port Huron Golf Club. If time permits, a stop at the Boutique will be made for shopping.

ACBS International Boat Show
Friday is the first day of the two-day ACBS International Boat Show at the River Street Marina. Judging of boats will begin on Friday. There will be an area for vendors, a Field of Dreams display, Ship’s Store, kids activities and ACBS Symposiums.
ACBS Scholarship Auction
Celebrate and support The ACBS Scholarship Endowment Fund and Eductational outreach activities by attending the Scholarship Auction and Dinner.
About the Venue: Tour the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps training ship, Pride of Michigan, while you dine in the historic Bean Dock. Situated on the bank of the St. Clair River, the Seaway Terminal Bean Dock has a picturesque view of the bustling waterway that separates us from our friends to the North in Canada. The Bean Dock was used to export many materials but most common was the export of Navy Beans to England. It was an international port for great lakes freighters as well as ocean-going freighters.

ACBS Awards Banquet
Michigan’s premier waterfront convention center will be the setting for the ACBS Awards Banquet. You’ll enjoy views of the Blue Water Bridge and passing freighters while toasting our award winners. It is conveniently attached to the headquarters hotel.
The Port Huron DoubleTree by Hilton will be the host hotel for the ACBS Pre-Events, Annual Meeting, and International Boat Show. We invite you to stay there or at one of the other hotels in the area where we have set aside blocks of rooms. Ask for the ACBS or Boat Show rates for a discount.
