150 people and 40 boats registered for the Poker Run on Monday, September 10th.  The weather was not what we had hoped but the intrepid boaters gathered at the Algonac Harbour Club for the captains meeting and set out to get their winning poker hand.

The rain held off and winds were light and from the north so although it was cloudy and a bit cooler than we would like, the water was calm and BLUE!  All our experienced captains had their boats in tip top shape for the run and experienced only one temporary fuel filter related issue which was cleared and all the classics completed the entire Poker Run.

The stops to gather poker cards were easy and fun – one even featured a bonus chocolate chip cookie! Docking at The Old Club on Harsens Island was easy with so much assistance from the volunteers.  A delicious lunch of chicken piccata and salmon with mango chutney was followed by an interesting talk on the history of The Old Club.

The Grand Prizes for the two winning poker hands were two Shinola Watches generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Sanders.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation go out to Carl and Sue Garmhaus of the Michigan Chapter who took on the planning, organization and execution of this complicated event.  We also thank the army of volunteers who helped make the day a success helping dock, manning the poker stations, and countless other tasks behind the scenes.  Smiling faces everywhere proved their hard work was appreciated!

Also, thanks to Karen Harrison for taking photos and sending them to Woody Boater!  Check out the story here: LINK to Woody Boater story about BOAT the BLUE Poker Run
